9 August: International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples

9 August: International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples
35

The Day of Indigenous Peoples is particularly important in Ukraine today. Especially, after the annexation of Crimea. This date gives a reason to remind about entire peoples deprived of the right for their identity. Centuries-long struggle of peoples lived in the peninsula, Crimean Tartars, Karaites, Krymchaks, for their culture, traditions, rituals continues until now.

Crimean Tartars, Karaites and Krymchaks were neighbours during the history not only metaphorically but literally, they lived close, shared foodstuffs, used similar household items. It is not difficult and complicated to remind about it: it’s enough to see household items, houses or wonderful national costumes.

Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine is carrying out the information campaign dedicated to the Day of August 9, within the frames of which there are envisaged: billboard campaign over Ukraine, photo exhibition in the Information Agency Ukrinform, production of social videos for TV companies and audio tapes for radio stations.
